China has really changed so much in many aspects that you really need to see it with your own eyes. It is so different from how it was in the seventies. If you have interest in the changing culture of China then I am the guide for you.

Since 2003 I have been a nationally certified and registered English speaking guide-interpreter working in the China International Travel Service. I have acquired the national tour guide certificate in 2003. I have also earned the Shanghai senior interpreter´s qualification certificate in 2004. During my job as a guide and interpreter working in CITS, I accompanied countless foreign tour groups and foreign individual travelers; businessmen and specialists spending their holidays or doing there business when they set their foot on China. Most of my guests and customers are from English commonwealth countries and North America.

Chinese and English are two very different languages, so sometimes there are no accurate or precise equivalent words or phrases that enable a word for word translation between Chinese and English.

So, under these circumstances, as a qualified translator, you must look for the appropriate ways to express the meaning of the speaker without any loss or change in meaining. When translating, I always follow three guiding principles. They are faithless, expressiveness, and elegance. I first learned this from one of China´s great literati Yanfu. I also worked as an English teacher and private tutor, teaching some courses in some training centers.

I have enough experience and I know the Western culture as well. I feel I am well qualified to be your IPA in Shanghai.

In 2006 I was invited by the ASTA( America Society of Travel Agents) and PGAA (Professional Guides Association of America ) to US for a short-term business visit and conference. I have obtained the B1 business non-immigrant visa smoothly early this month. While in US, I became friends with many professional interpreters and tour guides working in this field. Most of them were hired by the United Nations as conference interpreters or they were hired by the travel agency guides. I also attended training courses in cross-culture communication which was arranged by PGAA. In the next two month, as a temporary transfer employee, i worked for three months at Champion Holidays--a world famous travel company headquartered in New York City. During that period, I worked on our tour itinerary document translation and telephone interpretation.
